Suntrail Kayaks Hepworth

"Suntrail SFA" <suntrail@amtelecom.net>, untrrail PO BOX 29 60 Qeen Street East Hepworth, Suntrail Kayaks and Canoes-PO Box 29 , 60 Queen St East(Highway #6) Hepworth Ont., 519-935-3797 or toll free 1-877-822-2958 GPS-N 44*38.042' Lat W081*07.787' Long

I haven't heard a thing from the management of Suntrail since they promised to work with me on this matter. Now the 10 day return policy is no longer in effect and to them I don't exist. They won't answer my emails or phone calls. This is their idea of working with you. They were stalling for the 10 day return period to expire, and so it did" not with a bang but a whimper". Caveat Emptor. jmac,

HUYS (NOUWENS), Corrie - We are reminded to cherish our remaining days, each and every one, upon news of a terminal diagnosis. On Saturday August 21st our time to be with Corrie Huys Nouwens came to an end. On the eve of their 41st anniversary, husband Tony is left to treasure a lifetime shared. Thankful for a lifetime of her unconditional love and having offered the final gift of a summer spent in her company, we, her children, Karen (Eric Coleridge), Baasje (Joyce Peralta), Rachel, and Chris, surrender her without regret. One of the greatest joys of Mom's life was being Oma to Kobie. Mom hated to leave her beloved sister Annie Sneekes and husband Simon. She leaves also her sister- in-law Jean Nouwens and family, and Gail Brice. We trust that Mom is busy reuniting with loved ones gone before her - parents Willem and Cornelia, sisters Willie Uitermark and Joanne, and brother John. Mom found a great buddy in Dorothea Parker, great pleasure in friends and family, and a second home in Trinity, Newfoundland. Our thanks to doctors Kocha and Welch and staff of the London Regional Cancer Program for their heartfelt quality care. With gratitude for the support of friends at the Oxford Quilters Guild and many joyous years of quilting, Mom requests, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Creative Arts Centre in Ingersoll. We invite you to join us to remember Corrie on Thursday August 26th at the Civic Garden Complex at 625 Springbank Drive, London, between the hours of 6 and 9pm.

Medway Valley

Thanks a lot to all of you who have made my hikes with TVTA so pleasurable and stimulating! Thanks to the hike leaders, their knowledge and skill, which meant that I did not have to study the route. Thank you for helping out when it came to selling off our worldly belongings before we have to go home again.   I will remember TVTA fondly and carry your badge proudly.

24 hikers met at the Eastern end of Gainsborough Road on Thursday to traipse up and down Medway Valley Heritage Forrest. We also passed Brescia College at one point - the wheat now harvested which grew there not so long ago.

Duck or jump?

Medway Creek

Fungus on wood

There seemed to be even more wildflowers out than before: striking Goldenrod, starry blue Chicory, small white daisies, little pink Wild Sweet Peas and many more.

A plant of the Salvia family, probably Blue Vervain

A good example of Poison Ivy - don't touch.

Kayaks

Buying a KAYAK from Suntrail Outfitters

I have been putting a few pictures and videos about my kayaking experience so far this summer on the blog. I actually bought one, a NECKY Manitou 13' at SUNTRAIL OUTFITTERS HWY 86 HEPWORTH, ON.
I have been in various weather situations since my purchase and had I known before hand how they handled in these various conditions I would have bought another model, a model with a rudder in particular. The craftsmanship on close inspection also leaves a little to be desired. I called the store to ask if I could exchange the one I bought for a better quality model with a rudder because it is was very hard to steer moving all over the water when the wind and waves were behind you. I was informed that they would have to devalue my boat because now it was used. The receipt says that merchandise can be returned for full value within 10 days , no mention of the exclusion of boats. Their rational was that the boat was not merchandise and was not now new. So my recommendation would be to drive a few extra miles and go into Tobermory. See the people and the kayaks at THORNCREST OUTFITTERS. They know what they are talking about when it comes to rudders and skegs . My best advise is to go to a place, as we found out later, that has some ethics and all the best equipment not to mention the knowledge about what boat suits your requirements, a place that asks the right questions you yourself would not, not having the experience to ask. My opinion- Thorncrest Outfitters in Tobermory if your thinking of buying a kayak. Call me or email me here.

Stoney Creek Valley

On this humid and hazy Tuesday morning a large number of ramblers met up at the end of Windermere Road. I have no real idea of where the hike leader took us: we crossed Adelaide Street and Windermere Road and certainly spent some time in Stoney Creek Valley, but probably also in Sprucedale Park and Kilally West Northside.

A lone duck in Stoney Creek.

39 hikers: a strong group had fun for over two hours.

Towards the end of the hike, a Great Blue Heron emerged from the Valley.

We also came across a deer - but I am glad to say, not many stinging and biting insects. Which was surprising really, considering the high temperatures and sauna-like humidity.
